Lux Get Hungry: Dessert Ideas
There's always room for dessert. And we are just a day away from our sweet reveal for The Luxury Award's Best Restaurant! With food on the brain this week, all of the decadent flavors and colors of dessert have got to make a statement. Here are three amazing ideas for your after-dinner treat!
Colorful French Macarons - Fancy French macarons are light meringue cookies made with almond meal. You can color them with pastel shades and fill them will all kinds of fillings.
The basic equation for a macaron reads:
1 part cookie [ground almonds + egg white + sugar] +
1 part filling [buttercream, ganache, jam] +
1 part cookie [ground almonds + egg white + sugar] =
1 complete macaron [happiness]
Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars - Wanna know the way to my heart? It's in these bars. Peanut butter anything and I'll melt in your arms! The cool thing is that it doesn't take forever to make these. Prep time is about 20 minutes and cook time finishes off at just over an hour.
Ingredients:
1 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
4 tablespoons peanut butter
Directions:
In a medium bowl, mix together the butter or margarine, graham cracker crumbs, confectioners' sugar, and 1 cup peanut butter until well blended. Press evenly into the bottom of an ungreased 9x13 inch pan.
In a metal bowl over simmering water, or in the microwave, melt the chocolate chips with the peanut butter, stirring occasionally until smooth. Spread over the prepared crust. Refrigerate for at least one hour before cutting into squares.
Chocolate Fondue - Dip marshmallows, animal crackers, pretzels and fruit in a fountain of oozing chocolate and you've found a slice of heaven. Or fire up this mini fondue pot o' gold and drift on into a candy land of bliss. One of my all time personal faves!
