LUX Summer Beauty: DIY Ultimate Hair Mask

It's a love/hate relationship for hair in the summer months. Because with summer fun unfortunately comes post-summer hair damage. After spending time in the wind, sun, chlorine, salt water and air conditioning your hair may be dull, brassy, frizzy, dry or brittle. Dehydrated hair needs some major TLC, so let's turn to a delicious DIY hair mask to breath life back into your locks. There are plenty of natural ingredients out there that work perfectly together to revitalize your dried out ‘do! Let's dive in.

Banana // Honey Mask

Ingredients:
1 banana
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup plain yogurt

Puree the banana into a smooth mixture before adding in the other ingredients to avoid any chunks that could get stuck in your hair. The banana is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, potassium and added moisture, making it the perfect thing to help revitalize dried-out hair. It’ll work to strengthen hair follicles while promoting a healthy scalp. Mash the banana, then stir in the honey and yogurt, mixing well until you have a smooth yet thick consistency. Allow the mixture to soak in hair for 15-30 minutes, then rinse well.

Avocado // Honey Mask

Ingredients:
1 medium-sized avocado
2 tablespoons honey

With only two ingredients, this mask has amazing moisturizing and softening properties. Avocado contains four different Vitamins: A, B, E and D, along with healthy fats and other natural oils that will also add shine and prevent hair loss. To make, simply mash the avocado into a fine puree, then stir in the honey. Let the mask sit for 15-20 minutes to fully absorb into your hair. It also works as a great scalp treatment, so make sure to massage the mixture into your roots to promote stimulation.

Strawberry Hair Mask

Ingredients:
8 strawberries
2 tablespoons of mayonnaise

Strawberries pack a powerful punch when it comes to benefits, especially for your hair. They protect the cell membranes of the scalp due to the potent antioxidants found in them, while mayo is a source of healthy fats. Mash up the strawberries, and mix the two ingredients into a cream before applying it to wet hair and letting it sit for 15 minutes.
